We offer 4- to 6-week internships for undergraduates (L3) and masters students, and longer periods for master complémentaires (M2) or LLM students. You can take your internship throughout the calendar year, depending on your university commitments.

Completing an internship will shape your view on life as a professional lawyer. We see it as a great opportunity to get to know each other in real conditions – indeed many of our previous summer trainees are now part of the future of our firm.

We take great care in creating a programme that will both challenge you intellectually and develop you personally, including:

  • unique professional insight – you will benefit first-hand from the tutelage of a partner or counsel and receive daily guidance from an associate.
  • variety of experience – you will work in at least two areas of practice (from asset management and investment funds, corporate banking and finance, and dispute resolution)
  • practical experience – your role is to assist our lawyers in their work through a wide variety of tasks and discussion of client cases; in return they will give you helpful feedback and guidance.
  • tailored training – you will receive an introduction to Luxembourg law, an appreciation of the type of transactions that we are involved in and what will be expected from you as future lawyers. We also organise visits to the Tribunal and the Court of Justice of the European Union.

At DLA Piper, diversity and inclusion underpins how we live our values and everything we do.  We believe that everyone has a voice, and that everyone’s voice counts. We know that the rich diversity across our firm makes us stronger, more innovative and creative, which helps us to better serve our clients and communities. We are committed to providing an inclusive working environment and culture across our global firm, where everyone can bring their authentic self to work.

Diversity of perspective, thought, background and culture combine to make us the leading global law firm; that’s why we actively seek to build balanced teams. We welcome the unique contribution that you will bring to our firm and actively encourage applications from all talented people – however your talent is packaged, whatever your background or circumstance and regardless of how you identify.

We support anyone with a disability or long term health condition to ensure they have the opportunity to perform at their best. If you have not done so already, please let us know if you require any support so we can make the right adjustments and considerations should they be required.

We know that people have responsibilities and interests outside of their career and that as a business, we all benefit from working flexibly.  That’s why we are open to discussing with candidates the different ways in which we are able to support requests for agile working arrangements.

At Duncan Lewis we are proud of the volunteer opportunities that we provide as we know it is extremely difficult to gain exposure and experience within a law firm.

We know the importance of volunteer schemes and the positive effect these can have in gaining future paid employment.  We are always looking for volunteers who are passionate about law and want an opportunity to gain valuable work experience, learn and develop skills, build up confidence, gain an insight in a fast paced legal firm, make new friends and start building a professional network.

Volunteers must have a strong academic background, have completed their Legal Practice Course or Bar Professional Training Course, read or be in the process of reading law at degree or higher level and be looking to expand their practical knowledge of the law.  We are also looking for volunteers interested in only admin work.
